I am starting a vegetable garden. I have noticed from having house plants that I have a high salt content in my water. Will that be a problem in the garden? What can I do to either fix the problem or something I can mix into the soil to counteract the effects.

I want to apply for a summer job at Busch Gardens Europe in Virginia, but the website doesn’t say the age requirement. Does anyone know the age?

Alternatives to flowers left at a grave?

I am planning a family history trip and I will be visiting upwards of a couple hundred graves. Obviously, real flowers left at each grave would be a big expense but I would feel bad leaving nothing.

Are artificial flowers allowed at most cemeteries (the ones I am visiting are mostly old and unmaintained)? If I use artificial flowers, what kind of artificial flowers should I buy? Is there anything besides flowers that you can think of that I should use?

What plants are safe in a tarantula habitat?

I recently got a pet tarantula, and her cage looks terribly bare. I know that plants are a good thing to have in them, due to them wanting places to hide, but what type of plants should i put in there? I have spider plants (airplane plants) do you think these could go in her cage with her, or would they be toxic to her? Also, will she be fine with that cricket water? the blue gel stuff.

I don’t know much about gardening. I’ve lived in apartments all my life, and I still do… but my landlord is letting me play with a patch of land outside my kitchen window. I live near Salt Lake City, UT. The weather looks like it might be spring.

so… what is the URL of a gardening site that has helped you? Any sites good for beginners?

Can’t figure out why the perenniel gardens in England are so beautiful but get so little sun and are invariably damp from the rain. I would love an English perenniel garden back yard, but most everything dies. Any thoughts?

Any ideas on what flowers grow in shaded areas?

I have a flower bed up against the back of my house and which is completely covered by the overhead deck. I want to plant some plants there, but don’t know which flowers grow best in very shaded areas? Also there is a large rabbit population in my neighborhood and would like to plant flowers that the rabbits wouldn’t be so eager to eat.

Thank you in advance.

If you want to know, I live in Southern Arizona where it’s always dry and hot and I want to plant perennial flowers. I’m new to gardening and want to know how prepare the flower bed, what type of soil I need (if necessary) and any tips on types of flowers to plant. Thanks alot!

My work has a large indoor glassed in pool. It can get very hot in there and with the added chlorine content in the air from the pool I am wondering if there are any plants that would make it. There is a lot of sun coming in during the day so I am thinking that succulents are the way to go such as Creeping Sedum, Cactus and the related.

Is this a loss cause? And if not, any suggestions for plants?

Is irrigation water ok to use on a vegetable garden?

We have culinary water for our house and secondary (irrigation) water for our sprinkler system in our lawn. We recently installed a spigot next to our garden that feeds off the irrigation water, sprinkler system. We thought it would be cheaper to use the irrigation water on the garden because we water so much, but now I’ve heard that irrigation water can be hazardous to use on vegetable that we will be eating. Is this true?

What impact will this dust storm have on our gardens?

Is the dust storm in NSW good or bad for our gardens? Should I give the garden a good water when it’s all settled down or will it act as a fertiliser?
