I am considering planting a good number of pumpkins for next year, 1/2 acre or more. I am not excited about getting on my hands and knees to create mounds as recommended on the package. Is there a better way? What if I just planted them in widespread rows?
Also, is there a source of pumpkin seeds in bulk, I am most interested in jack-o-lantern size?
I have a Wii and am wanting to get a gamecube remote, a memory card, and a few games. I am wondering which Sonic game to get for the Chao Gardens. My friend has Sonic Adventure 2: Battle but I want to know are there any better Sonic Games with just-as-good Chao Gardens?
If I scoop my grass clippings into my garden to help prevent weeds from taking hold, and to give extra compost to my garden, would this be okay? Or does the grass take root and begin growing again?
Thanks for any advice? Also, is newspaper a safe and good weed preventative/compost additive? (I already use kitchen scraps and old flowers or plant leaves in my garden by cutting them into small pieces and letting them decay naturally)..I am just being over run by weeds, and I do everything completely 100% organic.
this is for an ap bio planning lab. we wanna see how the spectrum of light affects plant growth, so we have a normal light bulb and a black (purple-ish) one. we could only afford fluorescent ones.
which plants are easy to keep alive with fluorescent lighting? we have to start with seeds, by the way.
I’m trying to get into the Toronto Parks and Recreation on landscaping and snow cleaning. I’ve also been trying to get into the toronto disctrict school board as a Caretaker. I’ve been applying and can’t get anywhere. Can anyone out there help me?
As working parents my husband and I have no real time to maintain our 60 foot garden. I have just seen a few companies on line who can supply/fit artificial grass and think its a good idea.
I have a small garden in my back yard, I live in MI, and we probably want to do sunflowers and cosmos and we are trying to find a vegetable that will grow well. We have tried carrots and corn and they don’t seem to grow well and we don’t want to do cucumbers. Also any other general tips for gardening?? Thanks!!
We tried lettuce too and that didn’t turn out to well either!!
I want nice color flowers that would bloom the whole spring, summer and fall!
Easy to maintain or more work to maintain. (Please let me know if its easy to take care of or not!) Thanks!
Thanks for the responses!

Why would anyone thumbs down. These are great answers.
I know it all depends on soil quality and all that stuff. But on average, how long will it be before a tree starts to break ground level. I just planted an acorn hoping to grow an oak tree and I’m curious to know whether or not I was successful.
We are taking a trip to Florida later this month, and plan to visit Busch Gardens in Tampa. I looked on-line and the tickets are around 65.00 for an adult, 55.00 for a child. I spent a while searching for discounts on-line, and didn’t find anything. Sometimes companies run promotions and offer discounts, wondered if anyone knew of any. Thanks for the help.
Variegated plants(plants with white streaks or spots) do not make good weeds. They are cultivated for their attractive appearance but often do not fare well in nature. Why might this be?

I’m quitting smoking, and I want somewhere I can focus my energy when the urge to smoke arises. I feel like gardening would be perfect! However, I have absolutely no gardening tools, and not a whole lot of know-how. I need to know what tools I absolutely must have to get started, and whatever else I may need.
I live on the central coast of Cali, if that makes a difference in what sort of plants to get. The soil doesn’t seem too good, but I’m pretty sure I could make it work. Also has weeds and we have a gopher problem around here, as well as lots of bugs. Not allowed to kill the gophers. Advice on good starter plants is also very welcome.
Last year, due to very rainy weather in the lower Great Lakes region, I got my garden in late (in mid-late June). Then, there were a couple of days with early frost in September. What does the Farmer’s Almanac say for this region for this year?
Hi everyone,
I am completely new at gardening. Ive never even planted a seed! So I need things explained in detail step by step. I have searched all over the internet on this topic and all I find is "Container gardens are great for cities, its so easy, just get a container and fill with potting mix…etc" But they all say the same thing and dont go into any detail.
What I would like to do is start this first year with cherry tomatoes, parsley, green beans, thyme, maybe some other things. Ill see how it goes and make adjustments next year.
Does anyone have any good resources for me? I dont know when to plant the seeds, how many seeds to put in, how far down in the soil, or even how often to water them. I dont know anything and really need some help. Any comprehensive websites or blogs would be amazing. Thanks!
My last oscar resently passed on (RIP) and I can finally get some plants for my 60 gal. aquarium. I never had much luck with live plants, or had fish that liked them. I was wondering the best way to plant them so they have the best chance. Also I need some real fast growing plants because I got some pufferfish that get bored if they don’t have plants to explore.
I have a limited space for a garden. I am doing it along the side of my house in an area that gets great sun. It is about 3 feet wide X 20 feet long. I want to plant some peppers, tomatoes, peas, Gbeans, broccoli, zucchini and cucumbers. Is this space too small for this? I’ve heard that you can make plants that vine grow upwards. How do I do that and would I put those plants closer to the house? I am new at all this!
It’s rather a delicate matter, but this has posed a real dilemma for me. It was not possible, for various reasons, including the preference of the landscaping company, for the workers to have access to my home to use toilet facilities. And they did not provide a port-a-potty of any sort. I asked what the men were supposed to do about this and was told that they knew to drive to a nearby location or back to the main office when they needed to use the bathroom. But one, in particular, did not. There are a number of houses nearby and children often play in that area (I’m pretty sure this was not a matter of urination alone, as he was absent for a longer period of time than that would presumably require!), so my gut feeling is that human waste should not be left there. But am I making too much of this? Just let it go?
I just have to add, having read through the first several answers that have come in here, that this is what I love about Y!Answers——-the amazing range of intelligent opinions. You have all touched on all the points, pro and con, that have been weighing on my mind. I don’t know how I’ll ever pick a "best answer" here.
I’m writing an English paper and i need to think of an agency that would help with a community garden. Like supplying the seeds and stuff. thank you for any help! :]
