Garden pest organic control and treatment?

What are some good organic methods for preventing or treating common garden pest/pathogen infestations such as white flies, aphids, etc
Please let me know which specific infection your treatment treats….. Want to be well armed going into the spring planting season.

Best thing to do is to grow a healthy plant and it has the best chance to stay well and uninfested. Avoid too much nitrogen or the plant will be soft and succulent and will make a perfect home for sap sucking bugs. Trap crops away from the garden will draw them there and then you can deal with them without harming your food (don’t use toxins even here though). Oil sprays and/ or soap sprays work very good by plugging up the breathing pores and smothering insects. Additions to the above make them more effective but look for information in books like those put out by Rodale and are crop specific. Weed removal and mulch will help a lot. Sky blue plastic sheets under plants look like sky colors and tell bugs (little brain) to keep flying, keep flying! So many tricks, but watching for them and finding them early is most important. If you miss a plant and discover it is infested, just carefully get rid of it.
If you want to be well armed don’t overlook birds. They are one of the biggest plant and tree destroyers around with their constant pecking and pooping. You might want to purchase some BirdNet or Irritape or something just in case.
There has been some research I know of that shows if a plants sugar levels are high enough that they are less susceptible to disease and insects. Some peolpe have tried to alter the levels using such things as fish fertilizer. From the tests I have done it relates to adequate and proper levels of each nutrient and micronutrient. Petiole and or soil samples can be taken to determine actual levels as related to desired levels. As far as literature I can’t recall where I saw that.
