How can I possibly grow an organic garden in the woods?
I moved from a suburb and have been trying to grow a garden in the woods. This is the second year I’ve tried and am failing again. My pepper plants are being eaten alive by bugs, my tomato plants have black spots, the deer were eating some of them so I made cages. Spiders are laying eggs all over my plants and I’m washing them off everyday. Some of my plants are turning yellow. I had a great garden when I lived in the city. Can someone help me please!?

Don’t wash out the spiders they eat the bugs that eat your garden it’s like a natural pest control and they won’t harm your plants. Also try getting cedar wood chips, many bugs are actually repelled by cedar they don’t like it, putting it around your plant’s could help them that’s what I did.
Plus depending where you live the weather could be a factor, they turn yellow because of too much water The black spots could be from a fungus infection at the roots, what I would do is buy soil from the store and mix it with the woodland soil, woodland soil could be low in nutrients. Make sure your plants get enough sun light.
try using organic pesticide spinsad .as for the dear there are several differnt products out there for keeping unwanted animal’s out , one that i found in a magazine is called animal away. I found it in Carol wrights gifts magazine . you can go to the web site http://www.carolwrightgifts.com and check it out and other thing that they might have to help you out with your problem.
Good for you for at least trying to keep a garden and not giving up!
Pests are the biggest problems for gardens. Of course, you are not going to use pesticides on them, because that defeats the whole point of an organic garden.
The problem you have is not the pests, but how to control the pests and deer. I know it’s hard to not give in to synthetic chemicals. Here’s the solution: Jeff Serland. He has over 17 years experience. He knows his gardens. He started a website to help people succeed with their gardens.
These are some of the topics he covers:
Getting started and preparing your soil – This is a very important and without this information your garden may never grow at all!
Using fertilizers – Learn what organic fertilizers you should use on your garden while keeping away from the chemicals.
Dangers – What to look out for and how to avoid them.
Kill or keep those annoying weeds? –
Raising your plants from seeds – There is much to learn
