How long can you store planting bulbs that have not been planted?

For instance, if you could not plant them all before the planting season was over. How long do you have before these bulbs turn bad. Also, how can i store these till the next planting season, if it possible?

I don’t know of a limit on how long you can keep bulbs. It really depends on the individual bulb and how it has been treated up to this point. If it has been exposed to dampness it will be more likely to rot. If it has been kept dry overall it will more likely remain viable for the next gowing season. I take an old pair of pantyhose and slide the first bulb down into the foot.Tie a knot. Slide in the next bulb. Tie and knot and continue until you have all of your bulbs stored. Then hang in a cool dry place ( basement or garage ). Next growing season give each bulb a gentle squeeze to make sure they are still fleshy and firm and then plant them.
Most importantly is to keep the bulbs dry or they will rot, then put them somewhere cool and dark. If they shoot don’t worry, just remove the shoots.
Next year check to make sure they are still firm and then plant them as usual.
Good luck.
