I have a north facing backyard. I live at the beach in Southern California. Can’t figure out why the perenniel gardens in England are so beautiful but get so little sun and are invariably damp from the rain. I would love an English perenniel garden back yard, but most everything dies. Any thoughts?

Any ideas on what flowers grow in shaded areas?

I have a flower bed up against the back of my house and which is completely covered by the overhead deck. I want to plant some plants there, but don’t know which flowers grow best in very shaded areas? Also there is a large rabbit population in my neighborhood and would like to plant flowers that the rabbits wouldn’t be so eager to eat.

Thank you in advance.
If cat hair works, would dog hair do????

Is human waste used in organic gardening?

Prices for garden supplies?

This could include the price of:
* fertalizer

Anyone have an idea on where to find this?

I don’t have much of a green thumb. My contractor will add mulch and a few basic green bushes. How can I beautify the landscaping. The home will be complete in 4-8 weeks, but I can plant before then. I love perenials, but what else? I can do potted plants, but the in the ground things always seem to die.

Ideas?

The flower bed is just filled up with dirt, weeds, and pebbles. First I need to clean it out I guess but do I use the dirt that’s already in there or do put soil down? If you want to know, I live in Southern Arizona where it’s always dry and hot and I want to plant perennial flowers. I’m new to gardening and want to know how prepare the flower bed, what type of soil I need (if necessary) and any tips on types of flowers to plant. Thanks alot!

My work has a large indoor glassed in pool. It can get very hot in there and with the added chlorine content in the air from the pool I am wondering if there are any plants that would make it. There is a lot of sun coming in during the day so I am thinking that succulents are the way to go such as Creeping Sedum, Cactus and the related.

Is this a loss cause? And if not, any suggestions for plants?

Is irrigation water ok to use on a vegetable garden?

We have culinary water for our house and secondary (irrigation) water for our sprinkler system in our lawn. We recently installed a spigot next to our garden that feeds off the irrigation water, sprinkler system. We thought it would be cheaper to use the irrigation water on the garden because we water so much, but now I’ve heard that irrigation water can be hazardous to use on vegetable that we will be eating. Is this true?

What impact will this dust storm have on our gardens?

Is the dust storm in NSW good or bad for our gardens? Should I give the garden a good water when it’s all settled down or will it act as a fertiliser?

I’m trying to find the gardening device that takes a lot of the work out of gardening and so far, I’ve had no success.

HR875 and S425 will make it illegal for people to grow their own food or have organic farms because it forces Americans and American Farmers to use genetically modified seeds and use Corporate backed pesticides.

Does Obama support this or is he against it ?

This is my interview with him and the footage of his Social Security protest at Live Free or Die rally. Can you believe you can get thrown in jail for digging in the dirt these days!!!

I have a biology project where I have to grow a plant in a month under artificial light, but the plant has to be easy to maintain and have a woody stem. I also don’t know what kind of artificial light fixture to use and what kind of wattage would be best. I don’t want it to get to hot for the plants. The light fixture needs to be inexpensive and easy to find. Thanks for any help!

How do you wax flowers that have already dried?

I have flowers from an event that have been air drying for over a year (sort of forgot about them). Since they’ve become fragile, I’m concerned over typical methods used to wax fresh flowers because I’m afraid the wax will be too thick and will cause my flowers to break. Is there anything that can be done to thin the wax down or is there another approach that could be used to preserve them?

How can I correct my over-fertilized vegetable garden?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my first question regarding putting too much organic fertilizer on my vegetable garden before the seeds germinated.
Now what can I do? Are the seeds/soil beyond repair? Thanks.
